1.目的及意义

Nowadays, withthe development of globalization, the connection between countries becomesincreasingly tight, simultaneously making the cultural communication andexchanges extremely important. In this course, the accurate translation betweenChinese and English plays a vital role. These two different languages, belonging to two diverse language families, are different in the linguisticform. English’s progressively using the noun, preposition, adjective and adverbpresents the static tendency while the typical verb using of Chinese shows thedynamic tendency. Such difference raises a tremendous challenge to translators.

On view to avoidthe rigid and mechanical translation and promote the development of theflexible and idiomatic production, this paper lays particular emphasis on the staticand dynamic transformation of English and Chinese.

Besides, ZhangPeiji holds a good reputation in Chinese academic circles and his translationsworks are concise in topic selection, rigorous in style, and cleverly reproducethe verve of the original text. Closely to the original text, his translationworks fully reflect the translation theory and aesthetic thoughts, thus makingthem a suitable object for conducting the further study.

After searchingfor the relevant documents, and translation theories, the author finds thatdomestic and foreign translation scholars have never stopped studying thestatic and dynamic transformation of English and Chinese. As for the content, they have analyzed the causes, specific manifestations and translationstrategies of this topic.

M. S. Pedenbelieves that translation is a reconstruction and translators serve as thearchitects of this work at the same time. They need to break the externalstructure of the original text, and then combine the words into sentencesaccording to the expression habits of the target language.

According to Fu Jingming,in the English-Chinese bilingual translation, although the recognition ofsimilarities in thinking between two languages can provide a theoretical basisfor the possibility of translation, it is the seeking for differences thatgives us accurate direction to find the discipline of translation and makesbetter use of translation theories to guide our translation practice.

Mr. Pan Wenguo pointedout that in theory, English is centered on verbs, while in fact, nouns prevail. In theory, Chinese is centered on nouns, while in fact verbs have certainadvantages. These two linguistic facts are determined by their respectivelinguistic features.

Yu Guangzhong, afamous writer, pointed out in his article Howto improve British Chinese—on the normality and abnormality of Chinese thatChinese usually uses a thing as the subject, while English usually uses a nounas the subject.

The famousBritish linguistic Randolph Quirk believed that the characteristics of verbscan be considered as “moving”, and verbs can express tense so they are suitablefor expressing actions, activities and instantaneous state or change of state. But Li Xiaomin supposed that Chinese people, since ancient times, have attachedgreat importance to comprehension and our philosophy often reflects thinking oflife and ethics. The core of such comprehension is human rather than nature. Therefore, in terms of language, Chinese tend to use verbs for image thinkingand emotional thinking, so as to achieve the purpose of moving people byemotions. She also pointed out that the main form of Chinese dynamic expressionis verb conjunction.
