this subject requires knowledge of collectivism and individualism in chinese and american culture. so the author should read many related books and papers before writing this thesis. these reference books and papers are the writing basis. kung fu panda as a famous movie around the world, it provides many evidences of cultural fusion. from the abundant contrasts and examples of the movie kung fu panda, the author tries to find the proof that chinese and american cultures have been melted together.

this is the first process of the thesis. then, from this movie, the author relates this kind of situation to that of the modern chinese college students. based on the prediction and the evidences, the author does researches on the value orientations of modern chinese college students, to study how they are influenced and what kind of value orientations they actually should establish, which is of great importance to the buildup of the modern society.

when it comes to value orientations, people will be confused and have been influenced by foreign cultures to great extent. this thesis is used to help people deal with these problems.
