Thispaper mainly focuses on thecharacter analysis in The Metamorphosis, particularly, the relationship betweenthe author's life experiences and the main character, Gregor Samsa, based onthe Freudian psychic structural model. In the first part, the paper will introducethe Freudian psychic structural model. In the second part, it will analyze themain character Gregor Samsa in terms of id, ego and superego. In the thirdpart, it will demonstrate the connections between Gregor Samsa and Franz Kafkafrom the perspectives of id, ego and superego. The aim is to explore theinternal world and life views of Kafka through his incarnation in TheMetamorphosis, Gregor Sams.
