1.目的及意义


The purpose of the thesis:

The society of materials and fierce job competition has witnessed the issue of the spoken English of English major student a heated debate among general public. There are higher requirement for job seekers or the graduates who go in for the re-examination. Therefore, speaking English fluently is crucial for the every English major students and if they can take advantages of the spoken English, they will have greater competitiveness. However, there is a problem among the students, that is the majority of students can’t meet the requirements of the enterprise or the college. The main reason i analyse is the different teaching measure has different effects, so the teaching measure is taking an important part for teaching of speaking. Oral English teaching is not satisfactory and many teachers face a problrm of considering how to develop learners' oral English proficiency. Thus, to find ways of systematically and practically improving oral English teaching, the paper, chiefly based on constructivism, investigates both the current situation of and problems in oral English teaching for Chinese English majors, and provided suggestions for teaching oral English course.

The significance of the thesis:

As we all know, language is a significant communication tool for all the people. however, there are still some problems today about the oral English. Through the research of the current teaching of speaking to English major students, the teaching of spoken English class plays an important role, using some teaching measure to arouse the students’ interest and enthusiasm for the English. In addition, from this research, we can know the current situation of the English major students’ oral proficiency. Also, the research results can provide English students and English teacher some instructional advice. Oral English teaching is a big problem for a long time and the source of the problem is different . This paper researching from two aspects- the students and the teachers in oral English teaching , can reflect the real deficiency of spoken English teaching for English majors, help teachers to improve the quality of oral English teaching, solve the problems existing in the oral English teaching, achieve better teaching effect. And also the suggestions provided by the research can help English major students realize their errors in previous oral English learning, correct their mistakes in learning and seek effective method to practice spoken English to improve their spoken English ability.

Domestic research status:

When i type the spoken English teaching in CNKI, there are many papers from 2005 to 2017. i divide these paper into two kinds. The first kind of the papers mainly introduce and explore the theory of spoken English teaching and spoken English training and its value and application methods from different perspectives and the majority of the thesis introduce the teaching methods in primary school or high school. For example, communicative approach, situation teaching method and project teaching method. Also, there is a small number of paper study the current situation and strategy of the non-English major students in university . However, my paper mainly My paper mainly research the problems in current teaching of speaking to English Major Students of Universities in Wuhan area. I think the research field is too broad to be targeted, because students is different in different place and the educational level is different. The finial research is not suitable for everyone. Therefore, i think the research should aim at some region and through comparing the teaching method in same region and apply the theoretical approach.

Overseas research status:

When i search the foreign literature, i find there are many different opinion about the spoken English, some research from the culture perspectives and some research spoken English from the teachers’ cognition and so on.
