Thepaper focuses on the contradictory feminine consciousness in Agatha Christie’sworks, taking Death on the Nile forexample. On the one hand, as a woman writer, Agatha Christie was influenced bythe feminist movement which sprang up as the development of the industrialrevolution in 19^th century, so the feminine consciousness appearedin her works. On the other hand, due to the nascent stage of feminist movement,the dominated status of patriarchal discourse, and the long-term influence of traditionalconcept of patriarchy society, there was unconsciously patriarchal discourse inher works. This paper helps readers to better understand the feminineconsciousness in Agatha Christie’s works.
