当前全球塑料产量已达每年3亿多吨,其中超过80%废弃后将通过各种途径排放至环境,已成为危害环境的”隐形杀手”。

其中尺寸小于5mm的塑料被称为塑料微粒或微塑料,因具有更加严峻的污染特性近年来受到广泛关注,被认为是”新型污染物”。

美国环保署将微塑料污染作为当今世界最严峻的环境问题之一。
